Crawford Lab
Welcome
We are part of the Department of Biochemistry
@ the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
We are also affiliated with the Nebraska Center for Integrated Biomolecular Communication (CIBC) and the Nebraska Center for Virology
For the most recent updates please see: News and Events
The Crawford lab explores how viruses manipulate the human immune system.
Current projects focus on how HCMV (human cytomegalovirus) and HHV-6 (both common human herpesviruses) infect and control hematopoietic stem cells.
New projects look at fundamental stem cell functions (quiescence, self-renewal, and differentiation) using viruses as tools to 'reverse-engineer' cell biology.
We ask fundamental questions about:
virus biology
stem cell biology
immune system development
Using tools and techniques from:
biochemistry
virology
immunology
stem cell biology
